Job Description

  • The candidate should be able to perform general farm duties
  • The candidate would be responsible for maintaining work records and logs.
  • The candidate should have knowledge and capability to operate farm machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate will be required to maintain quality control and production records
  • The candidate will be responsible for supervising and overseeing breeding and other livestock-related programmes.
  • The candidate will be required to ensure that farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed
  • The candidate will be required to carry out repair and maintenance work for farm machinery and equipment if and when required.
  • The candidate should regularly monitor animal health.
  • The candidate will be required to regularly set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns, pens and chicken coops.
  • The candidate should be responsible for maintaining adequate stock for animal foods, medicines etc.
  • The candidate should ensure uninterrupted water supply to the farm.
  • The candidate will be required to work in conjunction with large animal vets to provide herd health management, veterinary treatments, and routine vaccinations.
  • The candidate will be required to identify sick animals and work with veterinarian to determine proper treatment.
  • The candidate would be responsible for handling animals.
  • The candidate would be responsible for distributing food to pigs
  • The candidate should be responsible for observing animals for signs of illness and giving medication when necessary
  • The candidate will be responsible for facility maintenance.
  • The candidate would be responsible for checking for proper ventilation and temperature conditions
  • The candidate will be required to assist with problem births.
  • The candidate would be responsible for taking care of pig litters.
  • The candidate would be responsible for coordinating waste removal
  • The candidate would be responsible for transporting stock to farms or processing plants
  • The candidate will be required to maintain high standards of animal welfare
  • The candidate would be responsible for directing and overseeing general farming activities such as maintaining pens, sheds and cages, fertilising, controlling pests and weeds, and growing fodder.
  • The candidate will be required to maintain fences, equipment and water supply systems.
  • The candidate will be required to consult animal nutritionists and livestock feed sales representatives while formulating diet plans.
  • The candidate will be required to move livestock to optimise feeding opportunities.
  • The candidate will be required to use tools to move feed, animals and other equipment to the appropriate areas on the farm in an efficient manner.
  • The candidate should ensure farm activities comply with government regulations.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate should have minimum qualification of College or CEGEP or equivalent experience
  • The ideal candidate should have a minimum 2 to 3 years of working experience in similar industry.
  • The candidate would be responsible for farm animal grooming.
  • The candidate would be in charge of keeping an inventory of the necessary feed ingredients.
  • The candidate should be a good team player with enough interpersonal and judge-mental skills.
  • The candidate should have excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • The candidate should have strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • The candidate should have good communication skill.
  • The candidate must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • The candidate should be punctual.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible in nature.

Equipment and Machinery Experience

  • The ideal candidate will have prior experience operating a feeding and watering system.

Area of Specialization

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in agricultural livestock service and pork production.

Agricultural Service Contractors Specific Skills

  • The candidate will be expected to provide agricultural livestock services such as artificial insemination, livestock spraying or shearing, and disinfecting pens, barns, or poultry houses.
  • The candidate will be expected to help develop and implement farm safety and bio-security procedures.

Specialized Livestock Workers Specific Skills

  • The candidate would be responsible for detecting disease and health problems in crops, livestock and poultry
  • The candidate would be responsible for performing artificial insemination or other breeding duties
  • The candidate will be expected to keep livestock performance records.

Work Site Environment

  • The candidate will be required to work in wet or damp, dusty, hot and cold environments.
  • The candidate should be able to work with full concentration even in noisy surroundings.
  • The candidate should have no Nausea issues while working in areas with high density of odour.

  • The candidate should be able to work in fast-paced busy environment.
  • The candidate should be willing to work under pressure.
  • The candidate should be required to perform repetitive tasks on frequent basis.
