Job Description

  • The candidate must have mountain driving experience.
  • The candidate will be expected to maintain professionalism in customer service.
  • The candidate will be responsible for overseeing condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment.
  • The candidate will be required to perform brake adjustments.
  • The candidate will be required to perform roadside emergency repairs.
  • The candidate will be expected to perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections as well as oversee all vehicle aspects.
  • The candidate will be expected to perform preventive maintenance.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have an AZ class licence and an Air Brakes Endorsement.
  • The candidate must be capable of lifting weights of up to 23 kg (50 lbs), 45 kg (100 lbs), and more than 45 kg (100 lbs).

Experience and Specialization

Documentation Knowledge

  • The candidate should be knowledgeable about Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Dangerous goods occurrence reports, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trans-border documentation and Trip reports.

Type of Trucking and Equipment

  • The type of trucking and equipment is a tow truck.

Communication Systems Experience

  • The candidate must be familiar with Citizens Band (CB) radio and Trip recorder (on-board computer)
  • The candidate must be able to use GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation devices.

Transportation/travel experience

  • The candidate must be familiar with provincial, territorial, and regional regions.
  • The candidate should have prior experience running short-distance trips.

Security and safety

  • The candidate must have a basic security clearance.
  • The candidate must be bondable.
  • The candidate should undergo a thorough driver’s licence validity check, driving record check (abstract), drug test, and medical exam.
