Job Description

  • The candidate will be required to consult with other health care professionals when developing treatment plans for clients.
  • The candidate must be able to perform massage techniques such as soft tissue manipulation, relaxation techniques, hydrotherapy, trigger point therapy, joint pain, and lower grade mobilizations.
  • The candidate will be required to apply finger and hand pressure to specific points on the body.
  • The candidate will be expected to assess clients through range of motion and muscle tests and to recommend treatment plans.
  • The candidate must explain procedures, risks, and benefits to clients.
  • The candidate must keep track of all treatments administered.
  • The candidate must massage and knead the body’s muscles and soft tissues.
  • The candidate must suggest home care instructions and provide information on techniques.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate or diploma in other trades or equivalent experience in Massage therapy/therapeutic massage.
  • Candidate having experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must be certified by a provincial or territorial association of massage therapists.
  • The candidate should be client focused.
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate should have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate must be interpersonally aware.
  • The candidate should give importance to values and ethics.

Work setting

  • The candidate will be required to work in a hospital/medical facility or clinic, a private practise, a rehabilitation centre, or a special health institution.
