Job Description

  • The candidate will be expected to look after pets.
  • The candidate will be expected to provide bedside and personal care.
  • The candidate will be expected to assist clients in water (i.e. pool)
  • The candidate will be expected to assist clients with bathing and other personal hygiene tasks.
  • The candidate will be expected to assist in regular exercise, such as walking.
  • The candidate will be expected to take full responsibility for the household (in absence of householder).
  • The candidate will be required to change non-sterile dressings.
  • The candidate will have to collect specimens.
  • The candidate must demonstrate infant care to new parents.
  • The candidate will have to feed or assist with feeding.
  • The candidate will be expected to launder clothing and household linens.
  • The candidate must perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties.
  • The candidate will be expected to plan therapeutic diets and menus.
  • The candidate will be required to provide companionship.
  • The candidate will be required to provide personal care.
  • The candidate must go shopping for food and household supplies.
  • The candidate will be expected to prepare and serve nutritious meals.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a programme lasting one to two years, or equivalent experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Certificate, a Community Disability Studies Certificate, a Developmental Services Worker SW) aining, a Geriatric Certificate, a Mental Health First Aid Certificate, a CPR Certificate, a Certificate of Conduct, a First Aid Certificate, a Health Care Aide Certificate, and a Personal Support Worker Certificate.
  • The candidate must have completed the Core competencies for public health in Canada course, Relationship development intervention (RDI) training, Tracheostomy care training, and Understanding and managing aggressive behaviour (UMAB) training.
  • The candidate must be able to handle weight up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • The candidate must be punctual.
  • The candidate should be client focused.
  • The candidate should be dependable.
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate should have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate should be organised and flexible in nature.

Experience with special needs children

  • The candidate must have prior experience with mobility assistance.
