Job Description

  • The candidate must compute the dimensions and tolerances of machine parts.
  • The candidate must measure and lay out work pieces in preparation for assembly.
  • The candidate must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables.
  • The candidate will be responsible for repairing machine tools and parts.
  • The candidate will be responsible for setting up and adjusting production machinery and tools.
  • The candidate must fit and assemble components and machine parts to a tight tolerance.
  • The candidate must document and report any deviations from specifications and tolerances.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining inspection records and completing inspection reports.
  • The candidate will be responsible for verifying the dimensions of parts machined with precise measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • The candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating conventional and computer-controlled machine tools.
  • The candidate will be responsible for verifying product dimensions for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring tools.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate or diploma in other trades, or equivalent experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supervising woodworking machine operators.
  • The candidate must have Machinist Trade Certification and a Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
  • The candidate must be able to handle weight up to 45 kg (100 lbs).
  • The candidate should be accurate.
  • The candidate should be dependable.
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate must be flexible.
  • The candidate must be capable of acting on their own initiative.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate must be a quick learner.

Work setting

  • The candidate must work in the general manufacturing and wood products manufacturing sectors.

Experience and specialization

Computer and technology knowledge

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about Mastercam CAD/CAM.

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have experience using milling machines, sawing machines, shapers, computer numerical control (CNC) machines, and computer-aided design (CAD).

  • The candidate must have their own transportation.
  • The candidate has access to public transportation.
