Job Description

  • The candidate must prepare reports or case histories.
  • The candidate must assess clients’ needs and eligibility for specific services.
  • The candidate will be responsible for developing specialized rehabilitation programs.
  • The candidate must conduct social research.
  • The candidate will be responsible for implementing life skill workshops.
  • The candidate must assess the client’s relevant skill strengths and development needs.
  • The candidate will be responsible for conducting follow-up assessments.
  • The candidate must be familiar with sign language.
  • The candidate must develop, coordinate, and implement the delivery of specific services within the community.
  • The candidate will be responsible for housekeeping activities.
  • The candidate will be responsible for food preparation.
  • The candidate will be responsible for providing suicide and crisis intervention.
  • The candidate must resolve conflict situations.
  • The candidate will be responsible for coordinating with other social service agencies and health care providers who work with clients.
  • The candidate will be responsible for managing events.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must be familiar with Emergency child care first aid and CPR, as well as have a First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, and Food Safety Certificate.

Work site environment

  • The work environment encompasses personal and social adjustment, health issues (substance abuse, gambling, and behavior disorders), as well as socioeconomic needs or conditions (housing, nutrition, unemployment, and financial assistance), volunteer coordination, services for pregnant teens and homeless people.

Work setting

  • The candidate must work in a women’s shelter.

Experience and specialization

Target audience

  • The target audience includes children, culturally diverse groups, females, persons who are blind/visually impaired, persons who are deaf/hard of hearing, persons with mental health disabilities and persons with physical disabilities.

Computer and technology knowledge

  • The candidate must be familiar with Microsoft Office.

Area of work experience

  • The candidate must have prior experience working in immigration and community service organizations.
